Does God Care?

Does God Care?

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.”

Luke 12:6 NIV

Does God care about you? Does He know your name? Does He love you or are you lost in the crowd? If questions like those trouble you, you can be sure that they trouble everyone. But you can stop your questioning, because God does love you.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to grow up to be a doctor. The picture that made the deepest impression on me was one where a doctor is sitting by the bedside of a little girl, praying, watching, waiting hopefully for the crisis to pass. God is like that. Jesus is the Great Physician. Have you ever seen a shepherd out on the hillside caring for his sheep? He’s one who knows and leads, and guides his own flock. “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

My father was a friend to me. Some of my earliest memories are of riding in the pickup with him, listening to his advice, hearing his stories. I knew that my Dad would do anything for me. I knew that he loved me and protected me. God is like the best in our earthly fathers. God is also like a mother. “As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you.”

No matter what the world believes or knows about you, no matter how low you think you may have sunk, a mother will still believe and still be good to you. So, when the uncertainties of this world attack you, don’t ever forget that short sentence you probably learned as a little child at your mother’s knee . . . “God is love.” He really does care about you.

May God help you in the midst of all the confusion and doubts that may fill your mind today, so that you may find perfect peace and confidence in the fact that God really does love and care for you.
