How Close IS God Anyway?

How Close IS God Anyway?

I think I’ve finally figured out why the world is in the shape it’s in . . . Too many people think God is far away and doesn’t care to be involved in the events here on planet Earth. And because they believe that God is far, far away, they think they can do whatever they want and He won’t know or care. I think this explains why they don’t believe God loves them or cares about them, especially in tough times.  They couldn’t be further from the truth!

He does love you, you know. He sees you. When you laugh and your heart is full. And in those awful times when it hurts so much you go numb.

He enjoys spending happy days with you. He loves it when you dance the dance of joy, and He sends the sweetness of His presence to increase your delight. He also understands your fight to trust Him on the bad days. On those bad days He comes whispering love and peace. “Remember My goodness,” He says. “I’m dedicated to meeting you right there in the middle of trouble, whether you caused it or not.”

God’s really not far away. In fact, He’s as close as your next breath. Think about that for a moment. What could be more intimate than your breath?

Can you hear His whisper? “Make Me your refuge,” He says. “I’m your strong tower. I’m the rock where you can stand steady. I’m willing to shelter you beneath My wings. Even as a nursing mother never forgets her baby, I could never forget you. I stand like a momma bear over you. I’m here. Always.”

Wherever you’re reading this, I’d like you to pause and take a deep breath. Let God’s love penetrate the chaos of your busy day. Let Him still the raging storm within your heart. He is good. He will never abandon you. He cares about everything you care about.

If you have trouble believing that God is this close, we need to talk. I’m here for you. Call me any time of the day or night at 717-658-6707 . . . and I’ll listen to your worries and pray for you.

Oh, one more thing . . . If you’re a regular attender or member of the Mt. Laurel Church of God, consider reading Jeremiah 1:4-10 to get ready to hear God’s message through Pastor Dale this coming Sunday, February 2, 2025
