How Peaceful Are You?

How Peaceful Are You?

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

2 Thessalonians 3:16, NIV

There’s nothing more appealing than being around a peaceful person. Someone who’s not rocked by the waves of life or triggered by the drama that life can bring. That kind of person brings steadiness and peace to any environment. Being peaceful is often underrated by our culture because we sometimes assume that it means life lacks excitement or fun. However, the opposite is true. When you choose the way of peace, you can welcome excitement and anticipate what God is doing without being on edge that you won’t like the results. Choosing to trust that God is on the throne, is really in control, that He’s really good, and that He really is for you, allows you to be able to live differently than the world around you.

When Jesus is at the top of your priorities, you become for more concerned with keeping and maintaining the relationships God gives you than you do about proving a point or always being right. Being peaceful gives you room to be loving, grace-giving, and kind. In turn, you actually get to enjoy the life you live without undue hassle, stress, or difficulties.

Being peaceful doesn’t ignore reality or avoid hardship. Rather, it trusts fully in the sovereignty and faithfulness of Christ Jesus. Have you experienced the fruit of choosing peace even when it’s difficult?
