Light in the Darkness
Light in the Darkness
Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.
Micah 7:8b NIV
I experienced the deepest, thickest darkness during a tour of Luray Caverns in Virginia. The guide had taken us into an inner chamber of the cave and warned that the lights would go off. His simple statement didn’t prepare me for the blackness that surrounded me in an instant. I looked around but saw nothing. I wiggled my fingers in front of my face but couldn’t see a trace of movement. My only comfort was the guide’s voice piercing the space, reminding me that I wasn’t alone.
Just like that cave, life sometimes sends us into suffocating darkness. We long to get out, but we can’t see one inch in front of us and nor can we find a path to safety. The only thing we can rely on is the voice of our Guide.
Maybe you’re sitting in the darkest of circumstances right now. Maybe you’re wondering if there’s any way out, any way to escape. What can you do when fear overwhelms you? Open your eyes to the light of the Lord Jesus. Listen for His voice. Find comfort in His presence. He’s your Guide, your Light, and your Salvation.
As you go about your day today, look for glimpses of Jesus in your circumstances. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll see Him reflected by a Christ-follower near you.
For those of you who will be worshiping at the Mt. Laurel Church of God this coming Sunday, November 24, God’s message through Pastor Dale will be from
Ephesians 1:15-23.
Consider reading this Scripture before coming to worship or before watching on Facebook so your heart is ready to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice.
