Prince of Peace
Prince of Peace
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
Isaiah didn’t, couldn’t, stop with just one prophetic name for the coming Messiah. God’s gift in the coming Savior was inexpressible. Still, Isaiah tried to express it. He reached for name after name, struggling to communicate the greatness of the coming gift. Wonderful Counselor wasn’t enough. Mighty God wasn’t enough. Everlasting Father wasn’t enough either. So, Isaiah added one more name: Prince of Peace.
Where do you need peace in your corner of the world today? Obviously, nations are still battling with nations. Do you need peace in your family relationships? Peace in your marriage? Is there conflict at work? Too much stress at school? Are you wrestling with peace in your own soul?
Jesus is the true source of lasting peace. Only Jesus can calm your restless heart and bring calm to your conflicted soul. Only He can settle your debt of your sin with a holy God. And the good news is that He did just that! Be at peace today, my friend!
Isaiah said in chapter 26 verse 3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
For those of you who will be worshiping at the Mt. Laurel Church of God this coming Sunday, December 15, God’s message through Pastor Dale will be from Luke 3:7-18.
