Steady As She Goes!
Steady As She Goes!
Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:4 NIV
As you and I get older, we’ve probably realized that what used to be attractive has probably changed as we’ve collected a little life under our belts. In all kinds of relationships, reliable and steady far outweighs charming or exciting. Let’s think about Jesus for a minute or two.
When we think about Jesus, it should give us comfort to know that He literally never changes. Mull that over in your mind for a minute. As sure as the sunrise and as steady as the tide comes in and goes out again, Jesus offers us the same presence every time. He’s constant. He’s consistent. He’s steady.
Let me encourage you to lean into Jesus today. If you’re a Christ-follower, a Christian, one who trusts in and relies on Jesus God’s Son daily, He’ll offer you the same ability. . . to be a steady, safe space for others as you soak in Jesus’ constant qualities.
I’ll confess that I have difficulty dealing with someone whose emotions are positive and up one day and then negative and down the next. If, however, we allow Jesus to help us process our emotions, He’ll help us operate with steady consistency. What a blessing it’ll be to your own spirit and to those around you when they know what to expect with you . . . no eggshells or frequent mood changes, but a steady spirit that’s anchored in the kindness of Christ.
My friend, a steady spirit can give a safe space for Jesus to work in you and a place where others can feel comfortable with you. Are you someone who offers a place of solid ground?
